‘Puppetry and Performance’ offers a week of playful experiments in a beautiful natural setting. Mornings will involve stilt, mask, and puppet building:::collaborative directing and critique:::script and silent narrative:::object manipulation. Afternoons will be a mix of solo and ensemble work that clearly demonstrate an intimate conversation with the land. We will be performing daily chores in the rural farm environment. In addition to regular group showings, participants will offer a performance(format TBD) at the end of the week. This will be for local community and invited guests. Red Clay Studio Society is announcing, in response to the success of the White Rabbit Artist Residency, our first year of extended programming. The Red Rabbit Intensive Series consists of four ‘intensives’, each a week long exploration of specific themes within a collective and peer-based mentality.
The intensives were conceived as a way to offer affordable, guided studies with the support of practicing professionals and to actively invest in the community surrounding Red Clay.
Each intensive is structured to support twelve participants and registration is limited, so apply early! During the week, participants will work as a group to organize around tasks, chores and cooking duties. In this community spirit that we hope participants will foster connections with their peers, the environment, and perhaps most importantly, themselves.
The cost ($125) covers all food, accommodations, basic supplies and use of all facilities at Red Clay. Meals will be cooked collectively, participants will cook and maintain the kitchen in rotation throughout the week. yummy garden food all week!
Registration is limited so please apply early.
